7 Simple New Year Resolutions To Make

It’s December and New Year is round the corner it’s the time of the year when we need to contemplate on our past actions and make resolutions for the New Year. Many of us laugh at the idea of New Year resolutions because we rarely follow them past the first week. Nevertheless it’s time for self-Improvement and it’s worth a try.

Here are 7 simple resolutions to make this New Year.

1. Talk more, Text less

People are amazing, each one has a story to tell. Stop texting that friend you rarely see and talk to the guy next to you. Tell your family about your day rather than attacking a town hall in clash of clans.

2. Stop using the snooze button

It’s always hard to get rid of this habit. Your first action of the day defines the next 24 hrs, so learn to get up without snoozing. The best way to do this is by placing your alarm far from the bed.

3. Stop your Netflix by 10 pm

Early to bed and early to rise should be the lifestyle one must follow. One must review the actions taken today and plan for the next day before sleeping. Watching Netflix or T.V before you sleep only distracts you.

4. Read a new Book

Reading is a great exercise for the brain. Reading helps us gain more knowledge and gives us a new perspective. So pick a book on any topic you like and start reading it.

5. Get rid of your credit card

Buying things for which you don’t have the money for is a big mistake. You end up paying more and your always in debt. Pay your debt and learn to save money.

6. Plant a sapling

Plant a sapling and water it and by the end of the year you will pat yourself on the back. It lets you connect with nature and do something for the planet.

7. Work on your hobby

When was the last time you did something you truly liked? Work on your hobby it always keeps you happy and engaged. You can always try to turn your hobby into your career.

The Story Behind The National Pledge

Educationist Maria Montessori once said, "Early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society”. Our schooling heavily influences what we are in society today. We all remember our school days with much fondness, the memories of our friends and teachers bring us great joy. In all the memories we have of school, the morning assembly is often neglected. Irrespective of the school we studied in, there are two things that are common, the National Anthem and the National Pledge. We often ignore the importance and the story behind the latter. The people of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh have a strong connection to it. The schools in the city of Visakhapatnam were the first to recite the National Pledge in the country. In 1962 renowned Telugu author P.V Subba Rao composed the pledge while he was working as the District Treasury Office at Visakhapatnam. He later submitted the pledge to the local minister at that time Tenneti Viswanadham, after whom the local Tennet
